GeniusOWLbeganbecausetoomanyDubaipropertieswerebeinghandedoverwithfourapps,threehubs,andnosinglepersonaccountablewhensomethingstoppedworking.Thehardwarewasrarelytheproblem.Theintegrationalwayswas.
Howwework
Wetakeresponsibilityforthewholesystem,fromthecontainmentroutetothesceneaclientpressesatmidnight.Thatmeansbeingonsiteatfirstfix,coordinatingwiththejoinerycontractor,andcommissioningagainstthereallightingratherthanaspecificationsheet.
Whatwewillnotdo
Wewillnotspecifyaproductwecannotservice,installasystemwecannotdocument,orhandoverapropertywithoutwalkingsomeonethroughit.Ifabriefcallsforsomethingoutsideourcompetence,wewillsaysoandrecommendsomeonewhodoesitproperly.
Principles
Four rules we do not bend.
These are the constraints we design inside. They occasionally cost us a project, which is how we know they mean something.
Local-first
Every system we build executes its logic inside the property. Losing the internet costs remote access, never the ability to turn on a light.
Serviceable
We build racks and ceilings to be worked on later. The next engineer should not need a site survey to change a driver.
Documented, always
As-built drawings, a device register, and certified cable test results are part of the deliverable, not an optional extra.
Overridable
Every automation has an obvious manual path. A guest should never need instructions to leave a room.
